lol...

yes...my next book is going to be called "Against Today’s Heathen- Postmodern Christians..."

thanks zac!

they seriously drive me NUTS because they honestly believe that Christianity is something which can be "re-imagined"...it's ridiculous!

I know we differ on the Reformation...but...at leas the Reformers where attempting to "go back to the sources"...key words: GO and BACK...

I really find myself needing to sit down and breathe for a minute when I hear or read them citing JESUS and men like LUTHER as their inspiration! “like…hey man…you know, like…Jesus went against the establishment, man…he was like a revolutionary, you know…”

AS IF THIS REVOLUTIONARY JESUS DID NOT ESTABLISH (key word ‘establish’) HIS CHURCH AND DELIVER A FAITH “ONCE, FOR ALL”…

Lol…you’d be amazed how many “Emergent Villagers” are now hitting this blog…I’m seeing an echo effect across several “emergent” blogs…lol…and, oh, does that make me feel special and important! lol

Yeah... I see in that idea the destruction of everything in Christianity. Although I'd say that "modernism" is also dangerous to the faith of the Gospels, too, because of its idea that we can "figure out" everything with our reason--

Instead we must go to the "pre-modern" faith, I think, as far as the way to attempt to read the Scriptures. A pre-modern viewpoint, for instance, does not limit "truth" to empiricism (as with modernism), but it also does not deny objective reality (as with postmodernism).

hey zac,

you are exactly right. the Way is neither modern nor post-modern...and I'm not even sure if it is "pre-modern"...all of these are sociological categories and worldviews...they are secular understandings of the availability and access to truth.

in Christianity our understanding is that truth can be know and is only know via Revelation, super-natural Revelation of course.

I'm not sure what to call it...but whatever it is...it's not modern nor post-modern because both reject super natural Revelation (modernism rejects the "super natural" part, postmodernism rejects the "Revelation" part)...

to be clear...indeed...even common grace is an act of super-natural Revelation...(the understanding of truths not found specifically in Scripture, such as the structure of DNA or whatever...)

I think you're absolutely right. I only meant "pre-modern" in the sense that you take it.
