The Eastern Orthodox faith is rich in history. RICH in history. Talk about an uncompromising bunch. Without a doubt, the message of the Eastern Orthodox has not changed one iota…they proclaimed the same thing 50 years ago, 100 years ago, 500 years ago and 1,000 years ago. Before there were Jehovah’s Witnesses, Pentecostals, Lutherans, Mormons, Southern Baptists, American Baptists, Regular Baptists, Primitive Baptists, Independent Baptists, Baptist General Conference, American Baptist Association, American Baptist Churches, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, Landmark Baptists… or even Roman Catholics (emphasis on the word “Roman”)…there was the Eastern Orthodox.
Now everybody stop and ponder that. That fact alone should weigh heavily in our equation before we proceed. The Eastern Orthodox tradition dwarfs them ALL in lifespan.

I leave you with that thought. Ponder it today…because it should not be taken lightly. Tomorrow I will post my initial thoughts of the Eastern Orthodox…but this fact is important my friends and should not be quickly moved passed. Before the Bible is even opened keep in mind that a solid argument can be made that the Eastern Orthodox faith is the most ancient of all the groups who currently claim the name of Christ. Tradition DOES have significance in the spiritual life…Sola Scriptura teaches that the Bible is the final authority…but it does not teach that the Bible is the only authority in Christian spirituality.

For your consideration, I have posted an article by an Orthodox Nun on a small blip of our history, specifically the history of one of the Church's miracles.

"Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the LORD, and the God who answers by fire, He is God." I Kings 18:24
