Well…now…do I have your attention? Let’s get something clear…I believe in the doctrine of The Holy Trinity. I believe it is the most mysterious and beautiful doctrines in Christendom. In fact...I believe that after having been informed of this doctrine...and denying it...places you outside the Kingdom...I believe to deny this doctrine in such a way excludes you from Salvation until you confess Christ…and you can’t confess Christ apart from this doctrine.

In the next several editions of Semper Reformanda I'll be going over this (I believe) essential doctrine of the faith. But before I dive in...what do you think? This is your chance to sound off...do you believe in The Holy Trinity? Why or why not? All views will be respected so long as they are submitted respectfully. Keep in mind, you don't have to add your contact information...be anonymous if you'd like!

So go at it...what do you think? You can talk about Father, Son or Holy Spirit...or all of them...in the context of why you do or do not believe in The Holy Trinity...Let's learn and be stretched together!

It's obviously hard to understand from an earthly perspective. I being a Bible believing, God fearing (many times not enough) Christian, can many times doubt it, but yet still know it's true...if that makes sense at all. I guess the way it makes sense to me is by using the example of water, although this is still not correct, but close.

Solid, Liquid, Vapor, (3 different stages) all still Water. The way it was explained to me, by someone I agree with (of course) is that The FATHER is God, but is not the SON or the HOLY GHOST. The SON is God, but is not the HOLY GHOST or the FATHER. The HOLY GHOST is God, but is not the FATHER or SON. All 3 different PERSONS, yet all GOD! Now my head hurts.

All I can say is Lord I believe, help my unbelief! Obviously the Bible helps strengthen that belief by the mentioning of Jesus that He and the Father are ONE... at least I think thats somewhere in the Bible.

John 10:38 says...
but if I do them, though you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you may know and understand that the Father is in Me, and I in the Father."

Then John 14:10 says...
"Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works.

The Holy Ghost...John 15:26
"When the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, that is the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify about Me,

and One of many Scriptures stating that Jesus is the Son of God...
1 John 2:22
Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son.
Also...
Matthew 3:17
and behold, a voice out of the heavens said, " This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased."

These and other verses help me believe, but not totally understand. Thanks!

Tim and ma...thanks! we'll get rolling real soon...I want to leave more time for other comments...

chuck...thanks to you as well! the passage you refer to is John 10:30.

An interesting point to struggle with is John 17. Jesus said:

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you."

The question my Mormon or JW friend would ask...which is a good question...is are His people one in essence or in purpose? They point out that Jesus asks that we be "one" "just as" the relationship of the Father and Son...does this passage help us understand John 10:30 or are they unrelated? What did Jesus mean when He used the expression "just as"...I give them credit for this question...it's a legitimate one.
